Join us for the 2012 Sustained Dialogue Leadership Summit

If you've attended a past SD Summit, you know that it's an unparalleled opportunity to come together as a Network and learn from student leaders and administrators from across the country. This year’s Summit will energize you for a strong year of dialogue-to-action and will prepare you to meet your 2012-2013 goals.

Specifically, at the Summit, you will:

  • Learn from and be inspired by the diverse network of individuals engaging in SD across the nation
  • Hear from distinguished speakers in the fields of social justice, civic engagement, and leadership development
  • Build your skill-set around moving from dialogue to action using the SD model
  • Exchange practices for tools to build more inclusive communities
  • Create a work plan for how to maximize Sustained Dialogue as a student group on your campus
  • Explore Washington, DC!

Who’s invited? SDCN is inviting all participants, leaders, moderators, advisors, supporters, and initiators of dialogue-to-action programs. The Summit will include large-group learning exchanges as well as smaller, topic-based working groups. Ideally, your school will be represented by a team of the following four individuals (or corresponding individuals based on your organization structure):

  1. Student President or Chair
  2. Head Moderator
  3. One additional Student Leader (leadership team or e-board member)
  4. Advisor (for Thursday-Friday, August 2-3)
That said, the more the merrier! We recommend sending as large of a team as possible for this event, as the skills and tools that you will gain will be invaluable as you take on leadership roles on your campus.

When: Thursday, August 2nd at 2pm - Sunday, August 5th at 2pm

Where: 4-H Conference Center, 7100 Connecticut Ave. Chevy Chase, MD 20815

Hear from students who attended last year's Summit:

"In just three days, I learned practical leadership skills, campaign strategies, dialogue moderating skills, how to pitch ideas to different audiences, how to manage goals, and how to dream big!"

"Thanks to the conference, I feel prepared to take on my responsibilities because I am more passionate about our mission and more confident in our strategy."

This is an opportunity you don't want to miss!

There is a 50% discount code for SD member institutions. Contact sasha@sdcampusnetwork.org for this code or for any other questions.

Sustained Dialogue Campus Network

The mission of the Sustained Dialogue Campus Network (SDCN) is to develop everyday leaders who engage differences as strengths to improve their campuses, workplaces, and communities. Sustained Dialogue, a five-stage public peace process founded by Hal Saunders (former US diplomat and key drafter of the Camp David Peace Accords), was adapted by Princeton students 10 years ago. Now on 15 campuses with 1,000 students and 3,600 alumni, SDCN builds the capacity of students, administrators, and communities to create inclusive environments through a proven dialogue-to-action process. Participants transform relationships around topics such as race, class, gender, faith, and sexual orientation, and simultaneously address pressing needs in their communities. Participation in SD has been associated with increased academic achievement, as well as informing civic engagement post-college.
